Whether you’re recovering from an injury or managing a condition, physiotherapy works to get you moving and feeling your best.

Yes, we offer manual therapy, including joint and soft tissue manipulation, in conjunction with targeted rehabilitation and activity modification to alleviate stiffness and pain, enhancing mobility and promoting recovery. This improves joint stiffness, muscle tightness and soft tissue tightness. These techniques increase blood supply to the areas resulting in pain relief. When combined with rehabilitation exercises improves mobility and enables return to normal daily function.

During your initial visit, our therapist will begin by discussing your medical history and any concerns you may have. This thorough assessment allows us to understand your condition fully. We’ll explain the diagnosis in simple terms and present various treatment options for your consideration. Together, we’ll design a personalized treatment and rehabilitation plan tailored to your goals, setting clear objectives to help you return to normal function. We offer specialist assessments with diagnostic suggestions when necessary, access to gym facilities to support your daily and weekly rehabilitation goals, straightforward education, reassurance, advice, and management discussions, and most importantly, we prioritize your choices throughout the process. Your active participation and comfort are central to our approach, ensuring a collaborative and empowering experience from the very first appointment.

FAQS

Medicine

Injection Therapy involves administering corticosteroid injections and/or hyaluronic acid injections to alleviate joint pain, particularly in conditions like osteoarthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis. These injections are designed to reduce inflammation and provide pain relief, facilitating improved function and mobility. This treatment option can be discussed in your Physiotherapy Initial appointment once assessment is complete.

The effectiveness of Injection Therapy can vary depending on individual conditions. Many patients experience rapid pain relief within a few days, with effects lasting from a few weeks to several months. Our advanced practice physiotherapist will assess your specific situation during your initial appointment to determine if this treatment is suitable for you. It’s important to note that while injections can provide temporary relief, they are often most beneficial when combined with a comprehensive rehabilitation program to address underlying issues and promote long-term recovery.

FAQS

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment aimed at improving pain, sleep, stress, and overall well-being. It involves the use of individual, single-insertion, filiform needles that are skillfully inserted into your tissues to alleviate pain and stiffness. This practice is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and is designed to improve the flow of qi (energy) in the energy channels, providing relaxation and pain relief, often resulting in a good night’s sleep on the day of treatment.

Acupuncture stimulates sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles, leading to the production of natural substances such as pain-relieving endorphins. These naturally released substances are likely responsible for the beneficial effects experienced with acupuncture, including:

It’s important to note that while acupuncture is generally considered safe when performed by trained practitioners, individual experiences may vary. Some people may experience minimal to no pain during the procedure, as the needles are extremely fine. Any discomfort is usually mild and temporary.

When you arrive, you’ll start by discussing your condition and any concerns with our friendly therapist. After signing a consent form, which reviews your medical history to ensure this treatment is right for you, the session begins.

You’ll undress for the areas being treated, but don’t worry – your comfort is our priority. Once the acupuncture needles are gently inserted, you’ll remain in a comfortable position for the rest of the 60-minute session. To help you relax, the room will have dim lighting and calming music – a truly serene experience!

If you’d like to review potential side effects and risks, these are clearly outlined in the consent form for your peace of mind.

After your session, we recommend keeping your day light and easy. Stay hydrated and enjoy a restful evening, topped off with a good night’s sleep to maximize the benefits of your treatment!

Dry Needling is a scientific method of using acupuncture needles to relieve muscle stiffness, tightness, and pain. This treatment employs acupuncture needles to reduce pain and stiffness in tissues, utilizing a Western medicine/scientific approach. The procedure involves the use of various sizes of acupuncture needles that manipulate the tissues, improve blood supply, and reduce tightness, thus providing pain relief.

During the session, you will sign a consent form that explains side effects, risks, and complications. You will undress the areas to be treated. This treatment may cause immediate soreness; however, after two days, you will likely notice a decrease in stiffness and pain in the tissues. The needles work to break down tightness in muscle fibers, achieving pain relief. In combination with exercises, manual therapy, and education, Dry Needling can help you achieve normal function.
