Acupuncture

A form of treatment as per traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This includes individual use, single insertion, filiform needles that are skillfully inserted in your tissues to improve the pain and stiffness.

Treatment involves use of many sizes of acupuncture needles that manipulate the tissues and improve the flow of qi (energy) in the energy channels which provides relaxation and pain relief resulting in a good night sleep on the day of treatment.

Western medical acupuncture is the use of acupuncture following a medical diagnosis. It involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles.

This results in body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins. It is likely that these naturally released substances are responsible for the beneficial effects experienced with acupuncture.

TCM explains that healthy body is result of a balance of complementary extremes of yin and yang of the life force known as Qi, pronounced “chi.” It is believed that pain or discomfort is a consequence of an imbalance of Qi in our body.

According to TCM, Qi flows through meridians, or pathways, in the human body. These meridians and energy flows are accessible through 361 acupuncture points in the body. Inserting needles into these points with appropriate combinations will bring the energy flow back into balance and restore the norm.

You will sign a consent form that checks all your medical history to determine your suitability for this treatment. Sam has been skilled in these techniques since 2012 and she has been running an acupuncture clinic in Addlestone since 2019. If you wish to ask more questions about risks and benefits, please do not hesitate to contact Sam.

You will undress for the areas to be treated; you will be in a comfortable position for the whole sessions once needles are inserted. This is to inculcate relaxation hence ambience of dim lights and relaxing music is to be expected. Please check the consent form if you wish to know side effects and risks associated beforehand. Please ensure post this session you have a relaxing day ahead of you, keep yourself hydrated and enjoy a relaxing good night sleep.

A course of six acupuncture sessions provides longer lasting benefits.
